BUILDING THE FUTURE WITH MIGRANTS AND REFUGEES

The Church has been celebrating the World Day of Migrants and Refugees (WDMR) since 1914. It is always an occasion to express concern for different vulnerable people on the move; to pray for them as they face many challenges; and to increase awareness about the opportunities that migration offers.

Every year the WDMR is the last Sunday of September; in 2022 it will be celebrated on 25 September. As the title for his annual message, the Holy Father has chosen Building the Future with Migrants and Refugees.

World Day of Migrants and Refugees Resource Kit

A water colour image shows a line of diverse people silhouetted standing on the shore of a lake with the sunsetting in front of them. A line of a skyline is in orange across the sky.

The resource kit for the World Day of Migrants and Refugees will be made available on 15 August.

This Migrant and Refugee Sunday, we will focus on the theme, “Building the Future with Migrants and Refugees.”

These resources will include stories from local communities, reflection, primary and secondary schools’ prayer rituals and prayers of the faithful to be used for the 108th World Day of Migrants and Refugees, 25 August, 2022.

The Australian Catholic Migrant and Refugee Office has created these resources and has released the cover artwork ahead of the resource kit’s availability.
